| [credits:ibanezzz7]Here's a patch I use for John Petrucci's songs (use neck pickup for lead, it sounds good for some rythm parts, too). I think it sounds also quite interesting in Vai's songs (bridge pickup here). I also always switch on the manual mode, to turn on the delay. This patch makes the guitar very sensitive, so it may really help with legato or tapping parts. Have fun! Feel free to write, what would you change.(sorry for some possible mistakes, English isn't my first language)p.s. I'll put the link here, if I record some sample. | 1k | versão 1 | 7 de jan. de 2012 13:56 | Elias Hermenegildo | ċ | john.petrucci_overture_g9_uvais.txt

| [credits:ibanezzz7]It's an EkoJem's patch modified by me. I find it really similar to sound of John Petrucci's guitar on his early CDs with DT, and also to his sound on the 'Score' DVD. Channel A with neck pickup for solos, with bridge pickup for rythm. I was trying to obtain a tone of 'Train of Thought' guitars, but I think I didn't reached it. Effects of my job are on channel B, but I hope you'll help me to improve this sound. | 1k | versão 1 | 7 de jan. de 2012 13:58 | Elias Hermenegildo | john.petrucci_wishful.thinking_g9_sherlock.txt
| [credits:Sherlock]This patch is made by 'Sherlock'Suspended Animation: Wishful Thinking Patch.Use function 2 on channel A to activate octaver for the chorus part.Turn off function 2 on channel B for the verse part.Turning off function 2 on channel A can be used for any heavy rock rhythm.Help me improve this patch.Comment me if I'm wrong. Thanks and keep rocking. Thanks to Mr. Giasso for making this website. | 1k | versão 1 | 7 de jan. de 2012 14:08 | Elias Hermenegildo |

Please forgive me if I seem to be asking daft questions; I have got myself quite muddled and I need advice from some old hands.
I am playing guitar, mainly lead, with some work colleagues, and we are doing various covers mainly 60's. For example, first four songs at a gig on Friday will be 1. Summertime Blues (Who version) 2. Keep On Running 3. Bad Moon Rising 4. Pretty Woman.
My set-up is Guitar > Boss vol pedal > Zoom G7.1ut multi effects unit > Fender Blues Junior amp.
My headaches concern setting up the Zoom G7.1ut. Those of you who use multi-effects units,
1. Do you set up a patch for each song? So, for a 20 song set you might have 20 patches. Or do you keep it simple and have, say, 4 basic patches that you use for all the songs?
2. The 'Amp simulation' list on the Zoom G7.1ut is made up of 2 types (a) simulations of actual amps (Vox Crunch, Marshall Drive etc) and (b) simulations of effects pedals (Bigg Muff, Rat etc). When playing, as I am, through a Fender Blues Junior guitar amp should I confine myself to the effects pedal simulations on the Zoom G7.1ut and steer clear of the actual amp simulations? In other words, are the actual amp simulations only for use when DI'ing into a PA system?
3. In your experience is it wiser to rely more on controlling the sound of the guitar by using the guitar's controls than the Zoom G7.1ut?

I have more questions whirling around my head, but I think that is enough for the moment! Any guidance would be much appreciated.
